Algeria Business Visa in 2026

The Algeria business visa is an entry visa for commercial visits, not a substitute for a work permit or a resident card. It is appropriate for genuine business travel such as meetings, negotiations, partner visits, trade discussions and similar commercial missions where the traveler is not taking up ordinary salaried employment in Algeria.

Official business-visa requirement

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says a business-visa application must be supported by either:

  • a letter from the applicant’s employer, commonly described as a mission letter; or
  • a letter of invitation from the business partner in Algeria.

The file also needs a hotel reservation or a certificate showing support/accommodation by the inviting organization, along with the MFA’s general visa documents such as a valid passport, photographs and travel/repatriation insurance.

Specific diplomatic or consular posts can publish additional presentation, payment or document requirements for applicants in their jurisdiction.

What activities fit a business visa?

A business visa is most defensible where the traveler remains a visitor rather than becoming part of the local workforce. Typical examples can include:

  • meeting a customer, supplier or Algerian partner;
  • negotiating or signing a commercial agreement;
  • attending a trade fair or exhibition as a commercial visitor;
  • conducting high-level business discussions; or
  • inspecting a potential project without performing the project work.

The Labour Ministry lists commercial visitors, including exhibitors and stand personnel, among categories excluded from the ordinary work-title requirement. But the same official guidance warns that work-title exemptions do not remove the obligations imposed by other Algerian laws on entry, stay and movement of foreigners.

What a business visa does not do

Do not use a business visa as a label for activity that is actually employment or hands-on service delivery.

The central MFA guidance says ordinary visa files are submitted through the Algerian embassy or consulate for the applicant’s habitual place of residence and generally include:

  • a completed visa form;
  • a passport valid for at least six months;
  • a passport copy;
  • recent identity photographs; and
  • travel and repatriation-assistance insurance.

An applicant who is a foreign national living in a country other than the country of citizenship should also expect to provide evidence of lawful residence in the country where the application is filed.

Invitation or mission letter

The invitation/mission letter should accurately describe the business purpose. Consular posts may expect company identifiers, host details, dates and responsibility for expenses or accommodation.

The underlying facts should match the requested category. If the letter describes installation, repair, production work or other hands-on services, a temporary-work analysis may be necessary even if the parties call the trip a business visit.

Visa fees are nationality-specific

There is no safe single “Algeria business visa fee” to publish for every applicant. Official Algerian diplomatic posts publish different charges depending on factors such as nationality, passport type, age, duration and number of entries.

For example, the Embassy of Algeria in Washington publishes a U.S.-citizen fee for a business-visa application, but that is a post- and nationality-specific amount and should not be generalized worldwide. Check the embassy or consulate that actually has jurisdiction over the application.

Processing time

The central MFA business-visa guidance does not publish one universal business-visa processing guarantee. Applicants should use the service standard, appointment rules and lead time published by their competent diplomatic post.

Do not borrow the MFA’s 48-hour rule for organized tourist groups and apply it to business visas. That 48-hour rule is specifically described for tourists travelling within an organized tourism framework.

Can a business visitor work remotely?

The official visa catalog does not identify a separate Algeria digital nomad visa. A business visa should not be treated as a default remote-work permission simply because a traveler keeps receiving salary from abroad.

Longer or regular remote work from Algeria can raise immigration, labour, residence, tax and social-security issues. The correct treatment depends on the actual activity and circumstances, not only the payer’s location.

Business visa vs startup visa
